Spanish Language Immersion Program
Overview
Study Spanish with a group of NC Conference United Methodists at the Sakribal Language School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. All levels of Spanish, from beginner to fluent, can be accomodated. Each group member can expect that his/her ability to communicate in Spanish will improve. The group will also be spending time in an outreach project to the community. A weekend excursion is planned.
Sakribal teaches Spanish using the immersion method. Students are immersed in the language and culture of Guatemala, receiving individual language instruction from a dedicated teacher, living and eating with a Guatemalan family, and engaging in daily activities designed to provide opportunity for using new language skills and exposure to Guatemalan culture.
The group will be limited to 14 people. The cost will be $ 600 plus airfare. Airfare from Raleigh-Durham is estimated to be $650. Applications may be obtained from team leader John Benson at 252-987-6562 or jbenson23@embarqmail.com. Applications must be submitted prior to September 1.
